Courtney is located on a salt dome 41 miles northwest of Beaumont in eastern Liberty County. Local storeowner Newt Farris named the town by combining the names of Daisy Barrett and Etta White. While Courtney was founded in the wake of the discovery of the nearby Hull oilfield in 1918, planters and lumbermen had occupied the area as early as 1850. The town was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1924. Courtney's economy depended largely upon oil. Despite the proximity of Hull, Courtney residents maintained a strong independent identity.

To help maintain it's independent identity, citizens of Courtney can develop a strong sense of driving safety by taking a Texas defensive driving course. Comedy Driving, Inc provides a Defensive Driving Courtney Texas course both in a classroom setting as well as an online course. We have 4 area locations in and around Houston and our closest classroom to Courtney is our Willowbrook location. You can find an interactive map below to get driving directions. If you find a day that works for you, all you have to do is arrive on time and you will be accepted into the class, there are no appointments necessary.
