I-10 Traffic Construction
I-10 Traffic Construction
The area of I-10 that sits between Beltway and Highway 6 is about to get a spacious new make-over. I-10 is the largest freeway in North America and boasts the highest mile markers. The section of I-10 that’s in Houston is also the widest highway in the world. “Not wide enough”, says everybody sitting in I-10 traffic.
Starting this coming February, the east and westbound sides are getting one more lane each. The Highway 6 ramp will also be getting a new lane. The idea is to unpack some of that backed up traffic that’s always creeping along the ramp.
Houstonians don’t care for construction, but TxDOT is promising that it won’t be 290-levels of invasive. Most of the work is stripe changing and all of it will be taken care of on nights and weekends. They want to keep you moving as smoothly as you can to work and home during the week.
You can actually see the construction schedules here to get an idea of what’s going on around the city. As the population increases in Houston, the roads get more crowded. Carpool, take the bus and drive very defensively. Stay safe, H-Town!
