Would You Ride The Flying Car?
Would you ride in the flying car? This is the future we were promised.
The Airbus and Italdasign concept features a “passenger pod” that can attach to different modules. There is an attachment for air and an attachment for ground travel. Its debut at the Geneva Motor Show offered a potential solution for increasing traffic congestion in urban areas.
It’s called the Pop.Up System and even features an interface that knows, communicates, and assists the users of the unit. This can go from basic directions to travel suggestions. This system is electric and would ideally have a relationship to the Hyperloop concept set to be completed by 2020.
While flying cars are historically predicted to be individual possessions, the concept was cooked up as a ride-hailing service. It would be a resource for travelers to hail via an app on their phone. Airbus and Intaldesign are combining forces to try to bring something very much like the concept presented at Geneva Motor Show to our skies in the next seven to ten years.
Just a few years ago, self-driving car prototypes were taking the roads and now this leap to self-flying illustrates exciting innovations. The rate of evolving technology is picking up the pace exponentially to adapt to the rising size of cities.
